London, UK: The Professional Triathletes Organisation (PTO) and World Triathlon have announced their wildcards for the women’s and men’s Miami T100 at CLASH Endurance Miami on 9 March, 2024.

For the women’s 100km race they include: Lucy Buckingham (GBR), Sara Perez Sala (ESP), Haley Chura (USA), Jodie Stimpson (GBR), Marta Sanchez (ESP), Kaidi Kivioja (EST), Diede Diederiks (NED) and Jackie Hering (USA).

Jodie won the Challenge Miami event at the same venue in 2021 when beating Lucy Charles-Barclay into second place. Marta has been quick out of the blocks already this year, winning the Ironman 70.3 Pucon (Chile) in January; and Sara is, to date, the only athlete to have led Lucy Charles-Barclay out of the water in a middle/long distance race, at the PTO Asian Open in Singapore last August.

For the men’s race it will be: Youri Keulen (NED), Menno Koolhaas (NED) and Gregory Barnaby (ITA) – who are the next best three athletes in the PTO World Rankings. Youri’s breakthrough result came at CLASH Miami in 2022 when he finished 4th behind the American trio of Sam Long, Jason West and Ben Kanute; Menno finished 10th at the Ironman 70.3 World Championships in Finland last year; and Gregory finished 9th at the 2023 PTO US Open in Milwaukee. He was also selected for the PTO European Open in Ibiza, but was a late withdrawal due to illness.

“With our 40 contracted athletes required to race 6 out of the 8 T100 races, to create that important season-long narrative we’ve talked about,” said PTO CEO Sam Renouf. “It also means there will be wildcard opportunities for other athletes to race at the highest level and lay down markers for what they can do. This is an important element to the T100 Triathlon World Tour and we look forward to seeing how they get on in Miami.”

The full start lists can be found here. On Saturday 9 March, the broadcast will begin at 1300 EST. The men will race the 100km course (2km swim; 80km bike; 18km run) at the Homestead-Miami Speedway first, starting at 1315 EST and then the women from 1650 EST. The course details can be found here. It includes 2.25 laps of the lake, 22 bike laps of a 3.54km circuit and then 7 run laps to finish.

Fans can watch exclusively live from 1900 CET in Europe on Eurosport, via PTO+ for the rest of the world and on Max in the US, and on TriathlonLIVE.tv in certain territories. Both races will be shown live around the world courtesy of the PTO’s partnership with Warner Bros. Discovery as well as a range of other international, regional and local broadcasters such as CCTV in China and ESPN in LATAM.
