Biography

Eva Wutti

Eva Wutti is an incredibly versatile and talented athlete. So much so that she has taken her focus away from triathlon for the moment as she pursues her dream of a spot in the Olympic Games marathon in Tokyo in 2021.

But prior to that decision, the Austrian star had excelled in triathlon competition since really taking up the sport back in 2009.

She began by proving her ability at domestic level and then finished second in the 2011 European Championships over the 70.3 distance.

Wutti really announced herself as a professional force to be reckoned with though in 2013 by scorching to victory at IRONMAN Copenhagen in a fast time.

A year later and Eva was again back on the top of the podium for the inaugural running of IRONMAN Barcelona, before taking another major full-distance prize at Klagenfurt in Austria in 2015 (she would again claim victory there in 2017). She also notched multiple victories at the 70.3 distance.

After qualifying for her first attempt at the World Championship in Kona in 2015, Wutti placed 16th on debut on the Big Island. To add to an impressive triathlon CV, Eva also became the first Austrian woman to win Challenge Kaiserwinkl-Walchsee in 2018.

Eva gave birth to her first child, her daughter Kiana, in 2016 and has since decided to pursue another huge goal. Watching the London Marathon in 2015 had given her the desire to take on the challenge of trying to win an Olympic place, and now was the time.

That hunger to keep trying new things should not surprise anybody given Eva’s incredible versatility. She was a highly talented runner in her youth and also competed at a high level as a road cyclist, finishing third in the Austrian National Championships in 2013.
