Max Neumann has developed into a top-class triathlete, having enjoyed a breakthrough 2018 season.
The Brisbane, Australia native has begun to prove himself on the world stage and looks to be set for plenty more success at the highest level.
His career-best 2019 season saw him clinch two IRONMAN 70.3 titles as well as a number of notable other events, including the Triathlon de Gérardmer, Moolooba Triathlon and Hell of the West.
For that reason, Max Neumann has to be rated as one of the most exciting talents on the long-distance triathlon scene and has plenty of potential still to unlock in his fledgling career.
Max grew up running around the paddocks in Mt Samson and says he always loved cross-country racing whilst in school. But in the search for something more challenging, Neumann took up the triathlon –
which seemed like a decent replacement at the time.
‘Maxxy’ has now been competing for almost a decade and trains alongside the likes of Josh Amberger, Harry Sweeny, Emma Jackson and Holly Grice.
Legendary Australian television personality Steve Irwin was Max’s hero growing up, and he says if he had to pick his favourite holiday destination, it would be North West Island in Queensland. With no
phone coverage or electricity, he says it’s the best place to go and unwind.
Neumann’s aims as a triathlete are to enjoy as much success as he can at the highest level, and he gives a lot of the credit for his success so far down to his supportive family.
Max’s favourite event is the Noosa Triathlon, while his favourite cheat meal would be a bottle of wine and timtams (Australian chocolate biscuits). And if he had one piece of advice to give, it would be that
“pain is temporary, but quitting lasts forever”.
