LONDON: The Professional Triathletes Organisation (PTO) today announced that it has opened age group registration for the 2022 PTO Tour which includes the inaugural PTO Canadian Open on 23rd– 24thth July in Edmonton, Canada, The Collins Cup on 20th – 21st August in Bratislava, Slovakia and the inaugural stateside PTO US Open in the City of Irving, Texas on 17th – 18th September 2022.
Distances for the PTO Canadian Open and The PTO US Open include 100km and 25km races. The 100km events are held on the same course used by the pros and consist of a 2km swim, 80km cycle and 18km run – also with a relay option. The 25km events include a 500m swim, 20km cycle and 4.5km run. The Collins Cup will be focused purely on the 100km distance with a 2km swim, 80km cycle and 18km run on the Sunday after the professional race.
Age-group athletes will all have the chance to race at the same venue as the world’s greatest athletes, on closed courses prior to the million dollar professional races. This combination allows for sporting fans to experience world class racing, both as participant and spectator, giving them the best of both worlds to fuel their triathlon passion.
Age Group entry fees are inclusive as well as being fully transparent with no additional registration or payment fees. Also included in the entry fee are complimentary race photos by Finisher Pix (worth $49.99) and a best in class race pack with premium quality finisher medal, sustainable technical T-shirt, race hat and race bag (worth over $200) as well as on course nutrition, timed race results, age group awards, finisher refreshments, and a e-certificate. A specially designed refund policy is in place to allay fears of possible cancellation or potential non-attendance due the on-going Covid-19 pandemic.
All PTO Tour events include a world class TV production broadcast live to a global audience and high-quality shoulder programming showcasing the stories of the PTO Professionals.
Sam Renouf, CEO of the PTO, stated: “The PTO is delighted to extend its support of Triathlon to participants around the world with the launch of age group racing at the PTO Tour. PTO professionals will have the chance to battle it out for the biggest prize purse the sport has ever seen while age-groupers will benefit from fair and transparent pricing, a covid-19 refund policy, a best in class race pack worth over $200 with complementary race photos and the unbridled excitement of brushing shoulders with the pros at these landmark events. All sports are defined by their marquee moments and we are excited to be creating a season-long narrative for both participants, professionals and fans alike.
