LONDON, ENGLAND: The Professional Triathletes Organisation today announced it has formed a partnership with premier global nutrition company, Herbalife Nutrition, to launch the PTO Pro-AM Series, the first of which will take place during the iconic Herbalife24 Los Angeles Triathlon on 15th May 2022.

The PTO Pro-AM series will combine age-grouper and professional racing and include a professional race with $100,000 prize purse, as well as a Celebrity Team Relay that will see the world’s greatest PTO Professionals racing alongside age-grouper teammates in a Pro-AM format, all to be fully broadcast to a worldwide audience.

Charles Adamo, Executive Chairman of the PTO, commented, “Triathlon has a rich history of age-groupers and professionals sharing the same passions, struggles, triumphs and challenges, all on the same course. No matter what your level, being a triathlete is a bonding experience to be celebrated. The PTO Pro-AM series will allow PTO Professionals and age-groupers to celebrate the comradery our sport breeds in a festival-like environment where both professionals and age-groupers together get to appreciate the joy of our sport. We are thrilled to partner with Herbalife to add this exciting format to the triathlon calendar.  There could be no better place for a celebrity event than downtown Los Angeles, the global home of film and entertainment.”

In addition to the full roll out of the PTO Pro-AM in 2022, the PTO will support the 2021 Herbalife24 Los Angeles Triathlon taking place on Sunday, October 24th with an increase of $17,000 USD to the existing professional prize, taking the total purse to $40,000.

Adamo commented, “Through 2020 and 2021, with so many races cancelled we have been supporting events that have been able to move forward. Both age-groupers and professionals have suffered with numerous cancellations, many with little notice or support.  It is an honour for our PTO Professionals to support age-groupers and our sport by providing assistance to many operators and national governing bodies, and we are pleased to provide this support to the Herbalife24 Los Angeles Triathlon this year. The support programme demonstrates the fundamental unity PTO Professionals, age-groupers and our sport’s governing bodies have in helping our sport overcome the COVID environment and to thrive together.”

Jennifer Guran, Director Sports Marketing Herbalife Nutrition commented “For nearly 20 years, Herbalife Nutrition has been a passionate supporter of the sport of triathlon and in partnering with the PTO Professionals, we are taking the Herbalife24 Los Angeles Triathlon to the world, with a globally distributed broadcast that will feature the athletes journey from the build-up to the event.”
