LONDON: The Professional Triathletes Organization (PTO) today announced it has partnered with Wave Sports + Entertainment (WSE), one of the fastest-growing sports and entertainment companies with more than 110 million followers globally, to spotlight inspiring stories from the PTO Pro Am and all PTO Tour events.
Starting May 06 when the PTO Pro Am content kicks off across the Wave Sport and Entertainment channels, fans can tune in to GYM HEROES to see the bespoke, social first content featuring the best moments and storylines from PTO events, including the first-ever PTO Tour.
The new PTO Pro Am format features PTO Professionals competing alongside physically challenged athletes and amateurs as part of a Team Relay. The event will feature athletes from the Challenged Athletes Foundation (CAF) who will lead the swim leg of the triathlon, handing over to PTO Professional Triathletes who will complete the bike leg of the triathlon, and hand over to the amateurs who will complete the final run leg.
Both PTO and Challenged athletes will be showcased as part of the LA Pro Am.
PTO Professionals include World No.1, Gustav Iden as well as Lionel Sanders, Daniel Baekegard and Sam Long. On the women’s side PTO World No.1, Laura Philip lines up alongside fellow top ranked athletes, Skye Moench, Holly Lawrence and Heather Jackson.
Amongst the challenged athletes competing in the Pro Am are Rudy Garcia-Tolson, Roderick Sewell and Haven Shepherd, Willie Stewart, Andre Kajlich led by team captain Amy Van Dyken Rouen, a six- time Olympic Gold Medallist in competitive swimming and Jessica Long, a five-time Paralympian who has won won 29 Paralympic Medals plus 50 World Championship medals as well as being a multiple-time winner of the Best Female Athlete with a Disability at the ESPY Awards.
The PTO Pro Am is part of the Herbalife24 Triathlon Los Angeles event and will also feature PTO professionals racing in the professional race for a $100,000 prize purse. This is in addition to age group races which include a sprint distance, an aquabike international distance, a 22-mile Bike Tour, and a 5k Run/Walk that will traverse through the streets of Los Angeles.
