On behalf of the board and members of the Professional Triathletes Organisation I am excited to share our plans for the combined Collins Cup and World Triathlon Multisport Championships 2022. The inaugural Collins Cup in 2021 was a pivotal moment for the sport, with the highest prize purse in history and a groundbreaking made for TV format. In 2022, we are ready to take it to the next level by welcoming age group and aspiring World Champion athletes from around the globe to join us for what is set to be a 5-day multisport extravaganza.
See you in Samorin!

Age-group Events & Courses
World Triathlon Long Distance Championships
Working in partnership with World Triathlon, the sport’s global governing body, the Collins Cup will host the 2022 World Triathlon Long Distance World Championship.
Held over the same 100km distance as the open Collins Cup age-group race (2km swim, 80km bike and 18km run), this event will give you the chance to earn an age-group world championship title.
Registration is by qualification only. If you’d like to race in the World Triathlon Long Distance Championship, please get in touch with your national triathlon federation directly to state your interest, check qualification criteria and see if you’re eligible.
World Triathlon Aquabike Championship
The Collins Cup will host the 2022 World Triathlon Aquabike World Championship.
Held over the same course as the open Collins Cup age-group race, this swim-bike event features a 2km swim in the River Danube and a flat, fast 80km bike course, giving you the chance to earn an age-group world championship title.
Registration is by qualification only. If you’d like to race in the World Triathlon Aquabike Championship, please get in touch with your national triathlon federation directly to state your interest, check qualification criteria and see if you’re eligible.
World Triathlon Aquathlon Championships
The Collins Cup will host the 2022 World Triathlon Aqauthlon World Championship.
This event is a great opportunity for swim-run specialists to strut their skillset over a 1km swim, 5km run format – and is also a great second race for athletes taking on other events over the festival.
Registration is by qualification only. If you’d like to race in the World Triathlon Aquathlon Championship, please get in touch with your national triathlon federation directly to state your interest, check qualification criteria and see if you’re eligible.
Collins Cup Open Triathlon
Held over a 100km course, the Collins Cup will challenge you to redefine your limits of speed and endurance. Hold strong form over the 2km swim, eke out bigger watts during 80km bike then straddle that redline to beast the 18km run. You can also race as a relay if you want to focus on one or two of the disciplines along with friends or family.
This is an open age-group triathlon event with no qualification required. Simply head to the Collins Cup event page to enter.

Explore Slovakia
There’s so much to see, do and explore in Slovakia and thanks to the country’s relatively small size, many of its historical, ecological and cultural gems are accessible even during a short stay.
There are nine national parks with an abundance of natural beauty to behold including soaring mountain tops, enormous caves, breathtaking gorges, stunning karstic rock formations and lush forests. For history lovers, there are more than 100 castles and double that amount of manor houses, each with carefully tended gardens.
From its jaw-dropping UNESCO sites and chocolate-box villages to the vibrant, cultural melting pot of Bratislava with its unique architecture, fabulous food and welcoming people, Slovakia has something for everyone.

The incredible x-bionic sphere sports resort is the National Olympic Training centre for Slovakia, 20km from the capital city of Bratislava. (45mins from Vienna) As well as a 5-star hotel, the complex includes 50m, 8 lane and a 25m training pools, IAAF standard athletics track, wellness centre, Olympic standard gymnasium and fitness centre. Situated on the banks of the river Danube, it has direct access to over 100km of traffic free running routes, as well as quiet country roads for cycling.
In a word – FAST! Jan Frodeno and Taylor Knibb had the fastest times at last years Collins Cup and with a similar course, we’re expecting records to be broken this summer.
Specifically, the swim (2km) will be a single lap wetsuit swim in the River Danube, the bike is a single lap 80km route through the surrounding flat farmland and the run (18km) is a spectator friendly 3-lap course around the resort.
A little-known secret is that Bratislava is one of the most central locations in Europe – within 5hrs drive of 150m people! Our venue is 20 mins drive from Bratislava International Airport which has direct connections from across Europe including UK, Germany, France, Italy, Spain and the Netherlands.
For those further afield – Vienna International Airport is less than an hour’s drive and has over 140 direct connections, from across Europe as well as US, Canada, Mexico and the UAE.
All major car rental brands are available at both Bratislava and Vienna airports, with free onsite parking at the resort – or if you’d prefer an airport transfer, contact Nirvana Europe or our official transport partner Carson.
You can book accommodation at the x-bionic sphere’s onsite hotel through our exclusive travel partner Nirvana Europe. This includes half and full board options, with rooms from single to quad occupancy.
There are a number of hotels in the nearby town of Samorin (5 mins drive) though many may choose to stay in the bustling capital of Bratislava, which is a 20 minute drive. Bratislava has a number of international hotel brands with prices from $65 euros per night.
If you’d like help with bike transport, mechanics, or transport from Bratislava to the race venue, Nirvana Europe are here to help.
Yes! The entire philosophy of the PTO is that we believe watching triathlon can be just as fun as racing (though a lot less sweaty) – provided it’s ‘done right’. In addition to free grandstand seating provided throughout the venue, we have planned a whole host of athletic and non-athletic entertainment to keep you and your supporters, friends and family inspired and entertained including three big screens to watch the live action.
Come and watch the greatest athletes on the planet race for a $1,500,000 prize purse – and the glory of who will lift the Collins Cup.
We know triathlon isn’t the most accessible sport, so we’ve worked hard to make our racing as affordable as possible.
All registrants to the events will receive two complimentary tickets to the Collins Cup opening ceremony, Tri Talks and grandstand seating for the pro races.
If you have been double vaccinated, there are currently no restrictions for entry or travel within Slovakia. We will continue to monitor and update on any changes to this, with the most recent information available here.
For those who require Covid-19 testing on arrival or departure, this will be made available to book at the race venue.
We are closely monitoring the war in Ukraine. Currently, there are no restrictions, or any health and safety hazards connected to travel or stay in Slovakia. As an organisation, we condemn the actions of Russia – proceeds from the Collins Cup Charity Run will directly support those impacted from the war.
