London, UK: The second London T00 Triathlon on Saturday 9 and Sunday 10 August will see 41 of the world’s best triathletes race head-to-head around the capital over the Professional Triathletes Organisation’s (PTO) 100km distance (2km swim, 80km bike, 18km run) in what promises to be a big weekend for the sport.

With nine leading British women scheduled to start – four of them sitting within the top ten on the T100 Race To Qatar rankings – the battle for a home winner is definitely on. They include: Olympians Kate Waugh, Jessica Learmonth and Georgia Taylor-Brown, World Champion Lucy Charles-Barclay and contenders Lucy Byram, India Lee, Holly Lawrence, Lizzie Rayner and Megan McDonald. On the men’s side, British hopes are carried by Will Draper and Harry Palmer. The full start lists are here.

“I would love to compete for the win in London. I don’t see the point of standing on a start line if I don’t think I’m going to win,” said Kate Waugh speaking on the Countdown To London T100 preview show. “My family are coming so it would just be really cool to have a good performance in front of them. A win here would be the best race of my year.”

But T100 weekends are not just about the professionals, they also feature a range of opportunities for amateur athletes of all levels to get involved. From experienced amateurs tackling the 100km distance to first-time swim, bike and run participants.

It’s A Ramsay Family Affair

Celebrity chef Gordon Ramsay and his wife Tana are leading the way amongst almost 6,000 amateur athletes involved across the weekend, by taking on an Olympic distance triathlon (1.5km swim, 40km bike, 10km run) to raise awareness and funds for Great Ormond Street Hospital and celebrate ten years as patrons for the charity. They will be joined by daughter Tilly, taking on her first triathlon, and future son-in-law and Olympic swimming champion Adam Peaty. Plus fellow chefs Paul Ainsworth and James Goodyear. With only a few days to go, there is still time to donate to their JustGiving page

Mcfly drummer Harry Judd returns for a crack at the Olympic distance. “I can’t wait to be back at the T100 this weekend,” said Judd. “Last year was my first triathlon and I did the sprint distance so this year I’m trying out the Olympic. It’s such an amazing event, which was brilliantly organised with an awesome atmosphere!”

Former racing driver Billy Monger broke the Ironman world record for a double amputee at the World Championships in Kona 2024 and is starting to dip his toe back into triathlons by taking on the much shorter Sprint distance (750m swim, 20km bike, 5km run), starting with a swim in Royal Victoria Docks, next to London’s ExCel centre. Mercedes F1 reserve driver Frederik Vesti from Denmark is taking advantage of a weekend off racing on four wheels and will do the Olympic. As will British Le Mans driver Oliver Caldwell

Women In Tri On The Start Line

2025 is the summer of women’s sport – and the London T100 is no exception. A powerful reminder that triathlon isn’t just for the professionals, Women in Tri acts as a gateway for women of all backgrounds to experience the beneficial mental and physical impacts of swim-bike-run. “I fell in love with triathlon with my first in 2018; I didn’t know how to swim or bike, but I was intrigued about taking part in this sport,” says Chair and CEO Bianca Fernandez-Clark. “However, I also noticed the lack of diversity. It was lonely being a beginner, even lonelier being a black woman.”

At their inaugural 2024 London T100, the PTO introduced women’s-only modesty changing areas within transition between swim and bike, to encourage participants from multi-diverse backgrounds into the sport. This year, larger swim caps are available, to accommodate thicker, curlier hair, such as dreadlocks, weaves and braids. There are also 45 places on the start line for Women in Tri first timers, a designated Women in Tri start wave, cheer zone and exhibition space. All to amplify the diverse impact on the course and around the venue.

Ctrl-Alt-Compete

In the new City AM Triathlon Team Challenge there are a host of businesses taking part for corporate bragging rights, with teams from BNY Investments, the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) and leading stadium architects Populous ready to race on Saturday morning. The relay over a sprint distance is also hosting teams from World Triathlon, Ironman, supertri, Challenge Family and British Triathlon, in what promises to be an intriguing ‘race within a race’.
