PTO Turns To Pressio To Deliver ‘Most Sustainable’ Sportswear Range For New PTO Tour

PTO And Pression Partnership

10 August, 2022

London: The Professional Triathletes Organisation underlined its value commitment and sustainability ambitions by announcing a partnership with the innovative, new sustainable performance sportswear brand, Pressio.

Led by the co-founder of world-renowned compression and performance brand 2XU, Pressio will deliver a brand new range of sustainable merchandise for the PTO, through the implementation of world-class sustainable processes and its partnerships with the world’s leading sustainable mills.

“We are setting the bar high – this will be the world’s most sustainable event range ever created,” said Pressio Founder, Jamie Hunt, himself a former Professional triathlete.

“It is an honour to partner with the PTO. I’ve been competing in triathlon for 35 years and the PTO’s approach and unwavering commitment to the sport of triathlon is second to none. Their focus on bringing sustainability into their events is a great example of a commitment to put the athletes first. Having taken part in thousands of events around the world, it’s disappointing to see even top-tier event brands supplying low-quality, un-sustainably manufactured event gear – our partnership with the PTO will shine a light on best practice for the industry.”

Pressio develops its products through seven pillars of sustainability, including initiatives with fibres, dying, fabric applications, end-of-life, supply chain, packaging and manufacturing. Launched in 2020, the brand is available through a number of high end retailers, including Harrods of London and Selfridges.

“We are excited to welcome Pressio into the PTO family. Their philosophy to take the activewear market to the next level, through a market-leading commitment to sustainable practice is very much in keeping with our approach to innovate in triathlon,” said PTO CEO Sam Renouf.

“The PTO is committed to delivering a top-of-the-range experience for our Age Groupers. This partnership does exactly that – as well as putting an important emphasis on sustainability. Each PTO Age Group athlete receives a market leading merchandise package including a technical t-shirt, special edition PTO Tour backpack, performance bike bottle, race belt and finisher’s towel, which bought independently would cost over 200USD.”

The inaugural PTO Tour race schedule for 2022 includes: the first-ever PTO Canadian Open (July 23-24); the second edition of $1.5M Ryder Cup-style Collins Cup (August 20), which sees Team Europe take on Team US and Team International; and the first PTO US Open (September 17-18). Each Open carries a minimum prize purse of $1M and will be raced over 100km (2km swim, 80km bike and 18km run). In 2023 and 2024, the PTO Tour plans to expand with the PTO European Open and the PTO Asian Open, alongside their US and Canadian equivalents and the Collins Cup.
