Sustainability

This page outlines the PTO’s journey towards becoming the PTO’s journey towards becoming a leader in sustainability, including internationally recognised initiatives and processes aligned with the latest science.

As the PTO seeks to elevate and grow the sport of Triathlon through the T100 Triathlon World Tour – alongside supporting and promoting the interests of female and male professional triathletes – it is also important we are building a sustainable business, able to thrive and contribute across environmental and social touchpoints.

As a global sports body that is co-owned by its professional athletes, we understand the power and influence sport can have in this area.

With this in mind, we have developed a foundation of commitments and processes to help accelerate our journey towards becoming a leader in sustainability, including internationally recognised initiatives and processes aligned with the latest science.

Our Strategic Priorities

As an organisation with a far-reaching impact, and global presence, we must focus our efforts to achieve meaningful change. We have created a defined set of strategic themes to act as a focus over the coming years, and to centre our internal sustainability strategy around. These themes encompass the focus areas in which we will deliver initiatives.

You can view our strategic priorities here.

Our Climate Commitment

We have signed up to the United Nations Sports for Climate Action Framework (S4CA) and Race to Zero initiatives.

As part of this, we commit to reducing our Greenhouse Gas Emissions by 50% by 2030, and to reach net zero by 2040, in line with the latest science.

Our Plan

In line with our commitment to the United Nations Sports for Climate Action framework, and to achieve tangible progress towards our emissions targets, we have developed a Climate Transition Action Plan. This plan highlights key impact areas, and outlines the steps we aim to achieve towards reducing these emissions.

As we progress in this journey, we will update this webpage with the latest activity.
